The Five College Study Tips That Will Get You the Grades You Want

The process of preparing for tests and exams is often filled with stress and anxiety because so much rides on the success of those exams. Students who score higher and have higher GPA's are the ones getting the better jobs coming out of school and are getting a leg up on getting into specialty schools such as law and medical. Not to mention getting in to more prestigious Masters degree school. Learning proven college study tips will help you in preparing and ultimately scoring higher on exams. This article will provide five solid study tips designed to make you a better student.

The best tip I can provide really starts with when and where to study. General rule of thumb is to begin studying for a exam at least a week prior to that exam. This means studying everyday for a week to gain the maximum benefits. Another great tip is to review your notes taken in class at the end of the day. Reviewing your notes at the end of everyday will help you learn the material reviewed that day and will decrease the amount of time needed during your review because you won't have to re-learn the material. Also, any notes that do not make sense re-write those notes when you are reviewing them.

Flash cards are a great way to study because as you are creating the flash cards you are learning the material. Put vocabulary words and questions on the front and the definitions and answers on the back of the card. Then quiz yourself as see if you know the material. Also, study with groups or other individuals in class. Getting other students perspectives on the material will help you think about things you otherwise would not have. Have those other students quiz you to see how you do. you may think you know the material when in fact you don't.

When studying in groups or studying alone you have to take breaks. taking breaks keeps the mind sharp as you are studying. For every hour you study schedule in a fifteen minute break. During that break get up and do some kind of lite activity to get the blood flowing and stimulate the brain. Certainly, your break time should not be overdone. Try to limit breaks to fifteen minutes for every hour you study.

Another college study tip that will help with time management and get great grades is to increase your study speed. Imagine being able to study double the material in half the time.

I found this website SpeedStudyMethod.com and followed the steps in the course. Upon completion I found that I was able to cover double material in hallf the time. My stress level went down because test time became easier as I was better prepared. This program helped me so much that I was able to complete my Bachelors degree in 3 and 1/2 years and carry a 3.79 GPA in a Masters level degree program. Using these tips and increasing your study speed will improve your test performance as it did for me.
